Tina James Piano Studio
"I was obliged to be industrious. Whoever is equally industrious will succeed equally well." - J. S. Bach
Why take piano lessons with Tina? Whether you are six year old beginner, or a 60 year old returning student, my studio is a great place to learn piano basics. I have over 20 years of teaching experience and tailor lessons to suit the goals of each individual student.
Creativity and fun are key elements in every piano lesson. My students learn note reading, chord charts, improvisation, harmonization and transposition skills, basic composition, accompanying and more. We perform twice a year at a local assisted living facility and various competition opportunities are available (but not required) for the more ambitious student.
Over the years I have had the privilege to instruct a number of autistic and special needs students, focusing more strongly on music as a means of self expression, stress reduction, and communication.
I believe musical expression is a powerful tool in unlocking and developing a person's cognitive reasoning and emotional processing skills. Learning to play piano is a great way to access and master those abilities. It is my goal to guide and assist each student in achieving his or her utmost potential.
